Glamorous Bridal Shower

I told you I’ve been busy at Bridal & Baby showers lately! I’m a busy wedding bee this year 🙂

My sisters bridal shower was at Lakewood Country Club and it was a gorgeous spring day!

054

The invitation went perfectly with our venue & theme.

020

Her wedding colors are champagne and blush so we decided to play off those for the shower too. I always like to stay within wedding colors for a shower because I know the bride is guaranteed to love it.

007

This was a seated luncheon so we had place cards for the guests – gold sparkles for chicken and pink for salmon. The circle garland on the above picture was bought off of Etsy as well… Etsy is my best friend when you’re a busy girl.

009
008

Big thank you to Lakewood Country Club for alphabetizing these for me… For some reason I was not doing a good job!

010

The guest book was a drawing of a tandem bicycle and guests were to leave their thumb prints in gold or pink and write their name above it.

011

I bought the pink frame at Target and purchased the drawing here.

015

The favors we’re so perfect for Ashleigh! Miniature bottles of Rose Champagne and a bag of chocolates. What girl doesn’t love champagne and chocolate?

014

We also added a small candy table to give the guests something to snack on with dessert.

025 026 028 029 030 024

I bought the candy at Party City who has entire sections of pink & gold candy making it easy on you. I made the pink covered pretzels because I couldn’t find them anywhere. I chose the raspberry sherbert candy topping from Michael’s and it was GOOD. I found most of the jars at TJ Maxx and tied them with sparkly ribbon I found at Michael’s.

027

The take-out bags were pink chevron and polka dots that I purchased off of Etsy. I took a gold paint pen and wrote the date of the shower on each one to spice it up.

023

My friend Crystal made the cake for me and as usual did an amazing job!

022

She also made these pink rose cupcakes with edible gold dust. It’s great when a cake is pretty and tastes good.

019

The I Do sign was perfect to go in between the windows above Ashleigh. Thanks Kelly!

018

The gift table had a banner that said Bride to Be which I also purchased off of Etsy. We added flowers to the tables and Chris & Ashleigh’s engagement pictures throughout the room.

017

032
031

Once the table was set with favors, pictures and flowers, we used the extra ribbon to tie around the napkins.

016 013

You can never have too much glitter 😉

012

We also added pink straws to each table for guests who weren’t drinking alcohol. The straw flags can be purchased here.

021

Once the guests were seated we played the Almost Newlywed game with Ashleigh. Yes, I do this game at every shower — It’s a game that’s fun for everyone and doesn’t make anyone participate by wrapping toilet paper around themselves.

073

Ashleigh did surprisingly well — but I think she cheated 😉

043

The glass Ashleigh is holding above was also purchased off of Etsy.

074

Once the game was finished, lunch was served. I chose the salmon and it was cooked perfectly!

034 107

Lastly, Ashleigh opened gifts. She got some amazing new things and I’m sure she will be cooking for her future husband verrrry soon.

049

Congrats to my sissy!!

Wedding Recap: The Honeymoon

FINALLY, I’m getting to the honeymoon! I’m going to break this into a couple of parts to save you from a billion pictures in one post.

A Honeymoon is extremely needed after the wedding. A time to relax, refresh and start your new relationship with your husband (or wife). I pushed to go to Fiji like craaaazy but Adam wasn’t feeling the 20 hour plane ride.

045

Our friends who got married 6 weeks before us were doing a lot of research on their destination and gave us some pointers. We decided on the Sandals, St Lucia resort and stayed for about 10 days (?) (is it sad i can’t remember!?).

158

The flight wasn’t too bad – 3 hours to Miami – 3 hours to St. Lucia but the ride once we got there was BRUTAL. The drivers are crazy and the roads are hilly so when you add in 2 hours of travel time it was enough to make me sick.

047

Thank goodness they were serving Champagne as soon as we arrived!

8

Our room was ready for us and it was the first place to recognize us as the new Mr. & Mrs. Kartzman!

048 049

Our room included a balcony with a view but we were expecting the room to be a tad bigger when we first saw it. The couple next door to us screamed WOW when they first saw their room and we immediately felt like spoiled brats. Truthfully,I think we were just expecting more for the amount we paid but it ended up being a perfect room with plenty of space.

066

The views were absolutely stunning at this resort and not only did we get to see them at the Grande (the resort we were staying in), we got to see them at La Toc and Halcyon too. When you stay at one Sandals resort in St. Lucia, you get to visit all 3.

057 065 087 112 140 213 209typical-sunset on-top-of-gran-piton145 108 71

I enjoyed being able to go to another resort so we weren’t stuck in one spot for the entire time. We were able to experience many different restaurants, lay out at different beaches/pools and experience the nightlife at all 3.

To be honest, we were completely exhausted every night by 10pm and didn’t experience too much of the nightlife scene but we did as much as we could!

Movies on the beach, dinner on the beach, St. Lucia Festival, parades, Chocolate Night, dance contests, fire throwing, a man who could sing any country song in the singers voice, beach BBQ’s and a local painter painting pictures in the moment for you were just a few of the nightly activities that the resort had planned. Chocolate night didn’t start til 11PM and since we’re old, we only got to see set-up. Whomp Whomp. Sandals did a great job of making sure there was always something going on — Especially during the couple of rainy days we got!

I’ll be back with food and excursions…

Saturday by Kate Spade

Kate Spade recently launched a more “affordable” line of clothes and accessories named Saturday. I say “affordable” because everything is under $200 and obviously this may be out of some people’s budget. The new line has a couple of different prints mixed into shorts, dresses, tops, rompers and bags. The prints are loud and the colors are bold which I love. They also have a DIY Collection. You start with the fabric markers and pick which clothing item or accessory you would like to custom make.

6-ZipperedPouch 1-Markers

0-GridAs a lover of DIY this is something I would be interested in testing. You can customize pants, skirts, bags etc. I might start small with the bag to see how it goes.

Here are the rest of the items I’m loving from Kate Spade’s new collection (click on the picture for links).

Spanish Inspired Baby Shower

Ohhh hey! Remember me? I got a job and disappeared, whoops. My weekends have been filled with baby showers and bridal showers so I have lots of pictures to share!

My Aunt is due with a baby girl in about 3 weeks (!!!) so my family and I decided to shower her with some love. She is a spanish teacher for High School so we played on that theme.

053

We ordered food from The Main Ingredient in Annapolis and they delivered it hot and ready to serve!

059 060 061021
062

I took a little bit of everything — Creme Brulee French Toast, Maryland Crab Dip, Spring Salad, Roasted Potatoes and the Torte Milanese (which was vegetarian). Yum!

I was in charge of the dessert table and made sure everything was pretty in pink!

006

My friend Crystal did the cake — The inside was funfetti, which is my aunts (and my) favorite!

004

My friend Kiki is extremely talented and made the cake pops. They were ALMOST too pretty to eat!

005

I made pink lemonade cupcakes, cheesecake stuffed strawberries and strawberry chocolate chip cookies. I’m not as talented as my other friends so my desserts were very simple 🙂

003042

Our favors were also a dessert because well, who doesn’t love dessert? My friend Marisa made the cookies and put so much thought into the detail.

001 002

I bought the tags and the pink bakers twine off of Etsy and was really happy with the way they shipped them so quickly!

Another part of the shower I was in charge of was the headband station which I named the bebe boutique.

019

014

Guests were able to design a headband for the baby to wear once she arrives.

016 020

I bought a bunch of random headbands and flowers and hoped the colors would go together.

068

I can’t wait to see the little bebe in all of these cute headbands!

The headband station wasn’t the only activity we had going on… We had a calendar for guests to guess when the bebe would arrive

076

077

Come on May 8 at 4:30 pm!!

My Aunt and Uncle have decided to keep the name from us (RUDE 😉 ) so we also had guests guess the baby’s name. I’m ALMOST positive someone guessed it.. We will see.

027 029

My other aunt made this adorable sign to go above the gifts, Es Una Nina (It’s a girl!).

008 007

All of the guests brought a book for the bebe’s bookshelf — She is going to have lots of reading material!

011

Jodie and the new baby were so spoiled and got lots of beautiful things!

037 089

not to mention the day was absolutely gorgeous

012

It was a picture perfect day and I can’t wait to meet the bebe! We haven’t had a baby girl in our family in almost 29 years (yes, since me).

056

Stanton Social

Friday night Adam took me into the city to celebrate my new job & our 6 month wedding anniversary! I chose Stanton Social because it’s been on my foodie bucket list for a while now!

photo (14) (dress by Herve Leger – Shoes: Christian Louboutin)

We made the reservation 3 weeks in advance and were a bit annoyed when they sat us in the very front of the restaurant, next to the door and squished at a table with 2 other couples. The dining lounge was clearly the place to be, but luckily the food made up for it!

2 (Source)

Say hello to my cute little date!

002

We ordered a TON of different items but since the food is served tapas style it ended up being just enough.

3

Crab Cake “Corn Dogs” — Since I’m a Maryland girl, you know I love my crab cakes! These weren’t lump crab but they were still very tasty. I loved the corn breading and the remoulade it was served in. It had the perfect kick.

8

The Ahi Tuna tataki was our favorite dish (out of the 8!) of the night. The tuna was seared to perfection, the wonton stayed crispy despite the dollop of sauce and fresno chili topped it off with just enough spiciness.

007

Shrimp & Grits was our next choice and can you believe I’ve never tried grits!? These grits were so cheesy and they were topped with two pieces of jumbo shrimp. The creole sauce that was poured on top of the duo was slurp-worthy.

1

OK – The reason I even knew about this place was because the food network stars RAVE about the french onion soup dumplings on the show “the best thing I’ve ever ate”. They weren’t kidding when they said these are amazing! They come out super hot so you need to let them cool for a good 10 minutes but it’s well worth the wait. You get all of the taste in one cheesy bite!

4I ordered the Sriracha Pea Crusted Salmon for my “main course”. These were still technically tapas but i could only finish half since we had the 4 appetizers prior. The salmon came with an asian pesto & soba noodle-beet salad. I was expecting the soba salad to be warm but it was cold. I’m not really a cold noodle fan but it paired with the spicy salmon quite well.

5

Adam ordered the cuban spiced glazed ribs for his main course and they were fall off the bone. The ribs had a mango and chipotle glaze and Adam said they were one of the best ribs he’s ever had.

015

As you know, we aren’t ones to pass up dessert so when the waitress asked if we saved room we grabbed the menus from her hand. Technically these desserts are to share, but we couldn’t help but order our own. Everything else leading up to this had been so great, we knew we’d want to try more than one!

017

I chose the s’mores creme brulee. I wasn’t expecting it to come out in 3 mini dishes but I wasn’t complaining — I think this is the most perfect creme brulee I’ve EVER had.

016

Adam went the healthier route and chose the blueberry olive oil cake with blueberry compote and greek yogurt ice cream. The cake tasted a lot like a muffin and the ice cream was a bit melted but he still cleared the plate!

I absolutely recommend Stanton Social to anyone who loves food (but ask that they don’t seat you up front!) and can’t wait to try it’s sister restaurant, Beauty & Essex soon!

Strawberry Sangria

Hello everyone! Happy Friday 🙂

013

To be honest, Adam and I aren’t BIG drinkers but we do enjoy a cocktail now and then. We’re heading out to celebrate my new job (!!!) and our 6 month wedding anniversary (already!?) tonight in NYC, so I thought I’d have a drink ready and waiting for Adam once he gets home from work. (#goodwife) Now that it’s FINALLY starting to get warmer ( I don’t want to jinx it) I’m ready for fruity drinks, flip-flops and sand. There’s something about a bubbly drink with fresh fruit that screams driiiink me.

009 (2)

Strawberry Sangria

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of Skinny Girl Sangria (I chose white)
  • 1 cup strawberry liquor
  • 1 1/2 cups sprite
  • 2 peaches, sliced
  • 1 pint blueberries
  • 1 pint strabwerries, sliced
  • Stevia (or sugar) to taste

Directions

  • Mix Skinny Girl Sangria, Strawberry Liquor, Sprite, strawberries,  peaches and blueberries in large pitcher (smashing a few strawberries slightly).
  • Add Stevia (or Sugar) until desired sweetness is reached.
  • Refrigerate and let fruit “marinate” in Sangria for a few hours before serving

012

Don’t forget to eat the fruit 😉

March Birchbox Review

I received my March birchbox and immediately ripped right into it. This months theme was March Madness and “is filled with products that are worth a spot on your team—from fresh-faced newbies to veteran all-stars.”

001

My favorite was the Dry Shampoo but we’ll get to that in a moment.

003

Caldrea Body Lotion: I only tried the apricot packet and still have the other two to go, but this was one of the smoothest lotions I’ve ever used. The smell was in no way overpowering and you can only really smell it if you smell the area of skin where it was applied. It made my skin very smooth and hydrated.

006

Marcelle BB Cream: So is it normal that I’m a girly girl but I had no idea what BB Cream was?? I’ve come to find that it’s basically a small miracle maker. The cream covers blemishes and tones your skin in one. I also felt like this helped moisturize my skin much more than just a facial moisturizer, especially after being out in the sun for a couple of days!

007

Serge Normant Dry Shampoo — I’ve tried A LOT of dry shampoos in my life. Most turn my hair grey (not cute), some make my hair even greasier than it was to begin with and others just wet my hair. This dry shampoo worked as it should and took away the grease! I suggest using it before you go to bed to get best results.

004

Whish Shaving Cream — I would never spend $25 on shaving cream but will admit this makes your legs super smooth. Do people really use shaving cream to shave their legs?? Maybe this is why I cut myself so often…

005

Bonus item: Madewell Emery Board — I don’t do my own nails (because I am HORRIBLE) so this probably won’t do much for me… My husband will probably use it before me. Yes, he takes better care of his nails than I do.

Once again, if you aren’t familiar with Birchbox, it’s a box that comes once a month straight to your doorstep with new products to sample. For the price tag of $10 – it’s proven to be worth it for me so far! If you’d like to sign up — feel free to use my link. At $10 a month it doesn’t break the bank and it’s a great way to find new products and figure out what you like and don’t like before you commit to the full price.

Easter Recap

The Holiday season is officially over (and wedding season is starting!) and I’m kinda excited about it… No more being tempted by candy in fun shapes, eating huge meals til I feel like I’m going to pop or making the usual Monday statement “That’s it — I’m doing a sugar detox!”

Our Easter this year was fairly low-key. We invited the in-laws over for Church and Lunch/Dinner and just hung out on the couch watching basketball and chatting.

003

Adam and I put out a few decorations… You know, whatever leftover items I could find at Target!

004

Easter basket from my mom!

005

That Hershey’s chocolate candle smells AMAZING.

006

020

Appetizers were salami, irish cheddar cheese and Skinny Crab & Artichoke Dip (We used real crab meat, jarlsberg cheese and added Old Bay).

013

014

Adam was such a big help in preparing the food – He knows what he’s doing in the kitchen! We made a roast in the crock pot with onions and carrots, mashed potatoes and fresh rolls for dinner. Adams mom brought a spring salad that had roasted pine nuts, spinach, feta cheese and grapes with a raspberry vinaigrette. It was delicious!

015

Adams parents ended up having to leave before dessert but it doesn’t mean we did’t enjoy what we had planned.

016

021

Angel Food Cake, Fresh Whipped Cream with Blueberries and Strawberries. Would it surprise you if you knew we ate the entire angel food cake between the two of us? Didn’t think so.

009

I also made some sugar cookies with jellybeans that we never ended up touching due to our Food Coma. Adam’s work scores again!

Perfect little Easter Sunday!
