Happy Friday! Less than a week until we’re in Florida so the days seem to go by very, very slowly. On the agenda for the weekend is a vegan doughnut baking class, golf and hopefully getting a pre-tan before the real tan next week. Here are some of my favorites from around the blogosphere this week.

Clean Eating – Breakfast

I’ve always been a healthy eater. OK, not ALWAYS… I used to eat an entire big bag of UTZ Sour Cream and Onion Rippled Potato Chips and McDonald’s daily… But, then I grew up. I couldn’t stay in shape and continue to eat that way. Adam and I eat clean majority of the time unless we are eating out. I always hear people say that it’s “too hard to eat healthy” or they “don’t have time” but when we are both up at 5am and working out by 5:45am, these excuses seem like laziness to me.

I’m sure you’ve heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It’s also the meal where you aren’t “supposed” to have veggies so it almost everyone’s favorite. I normally include veggies in my breakfast because I know it will help me choose the healthy way for the rest of the day.

All of my breakfast foods take no longer than 5 minutes to make because let’s be honest, I’m always running late for work. Below are my favorite quick clean meals.

1. I probably eat this the majority of my summer days.

2/3 cup of egg whites, spinach and asparagus mixture (i make a big batch on sunday), sliced strawberries, blueberries and half of an ezekiel bagel. Most days I leave the bagel out… Sometimes I just need the extra carbs.

2. I eat this meal mainly on the weekends. It feels like a treat, even though it’s healthy!


Protein Pancake (1/4 cup egg whites, 1 scoop of protein powder (MRM is clean), 1 tbsp ground flax, cinnamon, splash of almond milk, 1/2 mashed banana) topped with plain greek yogurt and strawberries.


Another protein pancake (made same way as above) except this is topped with Peanut Flour Sauce (PB2 + Water = 45 calories) and the other half of the sliced banana.

3. This is my go to meal during the winter.


1/2 cup raw old fashioned oats, 3/4 almond milk, chia seeds, banana slices and a tbsp of peanut butter. A cup of green tea to wash it down 🙂

4. Another summer staple — These are perfect after a sweaty run!


1 frozen banana, 1 1/2 cups of almond milk, 1 scoop of chocolate clean protein powder, PB2 or Peanut Butter ( I add spinach too — You can’t taste it!)

5. Last but not least. Most of you will think ewwww, what is that. Chia seeds help weight loss, make you feel fuller faster, used for hydration for athletes, reduces your blood pressure, is the richest plant source of omega-3, and has a ton of benefits for diabetics.


1/4 cup chia seeds, 1 cup almond milk, 1 tsp vanilla, 2 tbsp PB2, 1 tbsp of unsweetened cocoa powder

I opened my box and immediately saw something I love in clothes.

COLOR. I did write in my profile that I love that, so I’m glad they were paying attention. My personal stylist also sent me a note which made me feel like she was listening to my needs (wants).

The first item I tried on was the red ponte dress.

Love. Love. Love. This was my favorite item by far in the entire fix. The fit was perfect, the material is thick and this is an easy piece to transform from Summer to Fall.

Each item comes with 2 pictures on tips for styling. Which could be a bad thing? Now I want the clutch on the right and the sandals on the left… Yikes.

Item number 2 is a blue flower crystal necklace that I paired with the dress above.

I did like this necklace a lot…However, I have almost an identical one from J. Crew so it doesn’t make sense to have two.

Item Number 3 was the black and white design tank. The back was very soft, almost mesh-like material. But way nicer than mesh. Does that make sense?

I wanted to love this tank but I wasn’t digging the fit.. Too frumpy for me. Adam however, did like it a lot. So i tried it on with a blazer too.

It was OK. But I didn’t want to talk myself into liking something.

Item Number 4 was a green drawstring skirt.

Love the color and the fit but it was a little too long. Also, I didn’t feel like the material could transfer over to fall so I had to say no to this one.

My last item was an orange top with lace crochet detail. I love lace and I love the color orange!

I adored this top. The only problem is it was a bit baggy on the sides so my bra was hanging out. When I was 18 I wouldn’t have cared…But, now that I am nearing 30 (WHAT?), I decided against it.

I only ended up buying the red dress in this order but I felt like my personal stylist did an amazing job of finding “my style”. These looks are definitely something I could picture myself in day-to-day.

I’m definitely planning on doing StitchFix again (sorry, Adam) and recommend to anyone who wants to try out some new things. The process was extremely easy and I’m happy with the outcome.

What to Wear to a Summer Wedding

A post about summer wedding wear…in August! Whoops, a little late on that one.

I’m not sure about you, but I have a love-hate relationship with weddings. Every time we open our mailbox to a wedding invitation, I’m presented with a bit of a challenge. Is this a vineyard wedding? Black-tie affair? Does that mean short or long dress? Daytime or Night? Although, dressing for a summer wedding is a bit less challenging than a winter wedding, it still means the stress of finding the perfect dress.

Black Tie
Apart from a white-tie wedding (which I’ve yet to see someone have), black tie is the most formal dress code you’ll face. It’s customary to wear floor-length gowns and in the warm weather you should opt for chiffon, silk or cotton. At the bottom of this post, I have shown a green chiffon dress that would be perfect for the summertime.


You may also choose a shorter style for a summer black-tie wedding if the color palette is in the darker hue family. If you do wear a shorter dress, add some sparkle – in your shoes, on your neck, in your ears or with a beautiful clutch. Keep your hair and make-up classic. A favorite “treat” of mine is to enjoy a blow-out before a wedding.


Cocktail Attire
If a wedding calls for cocktail attire, there’s no need to reach for that gown—knee-length or slightly above works, but steer clear of anything too tight, flashy or pouffy. Think of it this way: Fun and festive is fine, but consider the type of dresses you’d want worn at your own wedding (a skin-tight sequin backless minidress? Probably not).

However, you should choose a short fun dress in a pretty print or vibrant color. You can experiment with necklines and lengths—this dress code is more flexible. Wear metallic strappy sandals and costume jewelry. Make it fun!


Afternoon Wedding
When it comes to daytime weddings, my mind always goes to Lilly Pulitzer. Not the traditional hot pink and green alligators all over your dress Lilly, more subtle muted light pink seersucker Lilly.


Seek out dresses that are feminine and polished in a delicate floral print or a pastel color. Keep accessories clean and simple. This isn’t the time for the bling!


Destination/Beach Wedding
Color! Color! Color! Print! Print! Print! Wear dresses in airy fabrics and fun patterns that compliment your skin tone for a beach wedding. To help capture the vibe, look to hues like cobalt blue, yellow, coral, and pink. When choosing jewelry, turquoise accessories are the perfect finishing touch.

Also, be sure to find out if you’ll be walking on grass or sand, and if so, ditch the heels and choose a festive pair of wedges or embellished flat sandals. Don’t forget your sunglasses!

Salty & Sweet

Have you ever eaten an entire container of fro-yo and then craved a bag of chips? No? Well….Yeah, me either… 😉 But if you are one of those salty & sweet lovers I think you’re going to love this treat. I made these to keep in our fridge as a “healthy dessert” last night… I’ll let you guess how long they lasted. I feel bad even calling this a recipe… It’s so easy, even my mom could make it!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Pretzel Bites


  • 1 Organic banana
  • 4 squares of 72% dark chocolate
  • 1 tbsp Natural Peanut Butter
  • Handful of Organic Mini Pretzels


  • Slice Banana
  • Place slices of banana on to one mini pretzel


  • Spread a dollop of peanut butter onto another mini pretzel and place on top

  •  Melt dark chocolate for 1 minute
  • Dip half of the “pretzel sandwich” into the dark chocolate
  • Refrigerate for 5 minutes
